  • Unless you are a genius, I don't believe that following a dvd video will help introduce people to Kendo. Who would tell if a person's form or techniques are correct without a proper instructor? The same concept applies with all martial arts, you can't learn the art properly using this type of format. If someone really wants to learn Kendo, it is best to seek out an instructor who will teach him/her the proper techniques.

  • This DVD is meant as a complement to dojo training, a tool to be utilized by a less experienced kendoka who would like to establish a dojo where none is available in conjunction with regular visits from established teachers. It is also a tool for beginners who just want to review the basics when not in class.

  • lol basic "adventure" exercises. it's bokken not bouken.

  • I wish I'd had access to your linguistic expertise to correct my pronunciation of bokken...

  • This is good video. 0:45 is very good. This is kendo mind. This is START of KEIKO.I play Kendo in Japan nerima. We have same mind in the woeld.

  • @burgess77 i learned all the tv martial arts i'll ever need, it was from a man named Dale Gribble, the technique was called Pocket Sand.

  • @NODAMEGASUKI that's really crazy hitting that dude's head like that.

  • when i started kendo, i was trained by a woman kenshi from japan. i remember holding the bokken similar like 2:27, which is all the way to the back. I remember my sensei will ask me to do nothing else but for 10 hours, raising and lowering the bokken until i get the position right, left arm in front of head and the bokken should not go all the way to the back. straight line from your head down below. not parallel to the ground

  • Lol... This is the Bellevue Kendo Club's (BKC) DVD. I'm going to have to watch this DVD since I have a feeling that Sensei Marsten will be teaching with stuff from it.

  • I ordered this DVD and it's pretty good. As a kendo 4.dan myself, I think some lower-dan instructors would find it very helpful for many reasons. It's one thing to recognize a problem in one's students, but something else to know what's causing the problem and how to address it. There is always something to be learned from other instructors: how they run a class, how they explain things, how they articulate their explanations. Nobody suggested this DVD was supposed to replace real training.

  • This DVD could be good idea to tell someone what Kendo is but it cannot replace the instructor.

  • There are no Kendo, or Kenjitsu Dojos in southeast georgia, and barely anyone knows what it is :(

  • Wasn't Elvis an 8th Dan Karate expert?

    I'm just sayin.

  • @AssassinGhost well i got really pissed off because where i live i cant find a kendo dojo!buuuut since i am genius i should fine...

    just kidding ;)
