lets get this straight...damarcus ware was a first round pick out if college. anthony specer was a surprise. anthony spencer was a surprise at 26. i never said he wasnt good i said he wasnt first round good!

Spencer wasn't a surprise pick at #26. It was either him or Meachem when the Cowboys traded up. They would have taken him at 22, but decided to trade down with Cleveland for an extra first round pick.
They traded back into the first, because they were afraid that the Patriots were going to take Spencer. So afraid that they traded with their more recently hated rivals, the Eagles.
Again, it wasn't a matter of if he was going in the first round, but when.
