  • Such a great show - great memories from my childhood. However, looking back, I recall my Father being troubled by how much I liked this show, & a few others, like Maude. He evidently thought too much of such fare would make me grow up gay. Well, I did, but of course I was born that way, & maybe appreciated certain aspects of such shows due to buried sensibilities, but back then people believed just watching certain things could "make you go gay". I hope the average person knows better today.

  • I loved Rhoda...she was great on Mary Tyler Moore and great on her own show...you just wanted to watch her...she was funny, and ahead of her time...classic.

  • @bobbysevensevenseven lol it sure doesnt mean happy anymore either!! lmao

  • Did the idiot just say she was born in 1941 and she felt responsible for world war 2? Perhaps someone should tell the flake WW2 started in 1939 when Germany invaded Poland. Sheesh no wonder no one in the U.S. knows anything about world history.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that homosexuality was a disorder (Or that I actually believed that watching Rhoda could turn you gay; I just meant the way the comment was written was funny). Though it turns out I was wrong anyway - while both genes and nurture have some degree of bearing on sexuality, the biggest factors are things like pre-natal exposure to hormones. So I guess it's completely possible to be born more likely to be gay.

Either way, Rhoda was a good show.

  • @xXJerryTerryXx You have a right to your opinion, and I realize the "gay gene' concept remains a subject of debate. However, one must also consider that humans are not the creatures in Nature to exhibit homosexual behavior. I don't dispute that how one is nurtured can further shape one's innate sexuality to some degree, but I don't believe it can genuinely change it. Regardless of these theories, homosexuality has not been considered an emotional "disorder" for some 40 years.

I love how this comment basically says "People thought watching Rhoda and Maude would make kids grow up gay. I watched those shows as a kid, and grew up gay. But they were wrong anyway."

Also, there's no such thing as homosexual genes. You're not born gay - there's the nature vs. nurture debate for many attributes but sexuality is entirely nurture. Our sexual identity is formed as we grow up, it doesn't start off predetermined. (/responding to a comment from 3 years ago)
