@thedoorsforever I'm glad that you believe it has helped you, but ESI's are NOT FDA approved.... and it says so right on the Data Sheet for the Drug.

@thedoorsforever You must not understand what is going on here. You have to be sedated, unless you love pain

@samantha9101 Wow, you really had a bad doctor. I am so sorry it cause you so much pain, shame on that doctor. I hope you told him off good! My doctor said that I had to be sedated. Every doctor that does this kind of procedure has to by law. That's what he told me. Let me know how your doing. I really feel for you, what you had to go through. You should not have been able to feel anything

@EndDepoNowCampaign It's FDA approved, I had it done and it worked wonders! Many of my co workers had it done as well. Thank goodness for this. No more pain killers YUK!

This treatment is not FDA approved. There are no steroid suspensions that are. One commonly used steroid is called Depo-Medrol. It is also not approved by the FDA for this use due to the large number of severe adverse events reported to the FDA's Med-Watch division. Your "consent" form may not include these facts. Depo Medrol steroids are "not recommended" by the drug maker either, Pharmacia/Upjohn-Pfizer because the risks out weigh the benefits. Consider yourself WARNED!

I wish I had not watched! I'm having one in eight hours!! I've had herniated and degenerative disks for years, so have tried alot of procedures. With an esi my first time, I did not know better and the dr. did not share another option. Like sedation!! It was terribly painful and if I saw him today, I would tell him off. For tomorrow , in a hospital,, with twighlight sleep. It's the only way. Don't agree to these without sedation!!

@bigb198806 Why in the world would your doctor not sedate you? He/she is sick!

@luvkhmai Why the H&ll didn't they give you a local? A good doctor would never give you the shots without sedating you first. I would get another doctor.
I'm 44 yrs and had my second injection today. First time I went for no sedation and it was moderately painful indeed. This time I opted for sedation and needed 13mg of the milky miracle. I still feel that more meds earlier would have helped. I was able to carry on a conversation whilst undergoing the procedure. I have severe polyneuropathy and Plantar fasciitis and Sciatica. Basically my work/life is a living hell. This is a band aid but a welcome one.

I just got home from my 4th injection. My first round of 2 injections got me pain free for almost a year I had a C7/T1 laminectomy at 25 and lost all use of my right arm with the disk rupture 2 years ago. I have been in PT and have been taking pain meds when needed. The injections DO hurt, however if you can just get through the 1st day or 2, it is totally worth it. Not a fix-all but a welcome 2 days of pain for a year of relief. Experience's can be different but I'm happy it's available.
