About 10 a.m. the Illinois Central Historical Society ran a seven car all-IC consist into Monticello IL from the museum's Nelson Crossing depot (ex-IC Deland IL) for the first of two charters with run-bys. There were folks at vetibules and on the rear platform of business car No. 7. Here the train is operating on what was the line north and east to White Heath, then on to Champaign, but headed southwesterly into Monticello and a stop at the Wabash depot the museum saved along with locals with pitchforks and torches. Cars not in the train but that could raise the count to a nine-car set are diner 4112, yet to be painted in chocolate and orange, the obs Gulfport, a former fishing shack rescued from up on blocks. Another coach 2855, also sat it out. If the IC combine 892 were included, as if by accident one Pullman green car from 1918 could sneak into the line-up, they'd have 10 cars when done. Plus, an ex-PRR E-8 being restored to be disguised IC.
Here, a Monticello Railway Museum volunteer is last to cross before the first charter heads into the Camp Creek valley and onto Monticello.
This clip is purposefully muted. There is nothing wrong with your electrons. I am already looking for a different way to do this without blowing out the mike. Perhaps I will add some music to this instead of having to endure sqwak and will add as a new clip.
