This is a video of my A4s engine with the valve cover off. I am attemting to diagnose a ticking noise that comes after the engines oil temp has reached normal operating range and only at idle.

  • Shouldnt oil be spewing iut the top?

  • It would if it has enough time to build more pressure. It turned out to be the hydraulic chain tensioner.

  • @tandaman538 yea the 1.8 turbo has both-a belt from the crank to the exhaust camshaft and a chain from the exhaust to the intake camshaft

  • You really are a bellend, Yanks you gotta love em! ...well maybe not.

  • I would have listened to the other cunts than listen to a cunt like you who wanks off to gay porn...... YOU FUCKING CUNT

  • @7477238 nope its getting lubed via oil slots in the camshaft bearings

  • I have the same problem in my A4 and a mechanic told me it's the valve lifters,he also recommends to put thicker oil than usual.

  • @Mrphatbastard1 This is an Audi, not a BMW idiot.

  • Haha, I head about this problem from some guy at my barber shop yesterday. Said his gasoline engine sounds like a diesel. He said it smokes when you accelerate. You should have heard all the false info they were telling the guy. They advised him not to go to a mechanic because he would get screwed over. Others told him to change the oil(which he said he had done) and others to buy a new engine. I told him to do a compression test because it might be a bad comp/oil ring, but it could be this!

  • is that a timing chain? i thought they didnt use chains until like 08 or something?

  • BMW - Big Money Wasted! Now go out and get yourself something other than more German junk or just turn the stereo up, if it still functions...

  • @Z2theONA So... it was not engine sludge it was sealant from the pan that had been previously replaced from being damaged. I talked to the dealer ' Prestige Audi ' in Colorado and they wanted nothing to do with it. He said out of warranty so to bad. The shop that replace the pickup tube did say they used way to much sealant that in turn, got into the pan. So the previous owner paid half, car is running great so i'm happy. STAY AWAY FROM PRESTIGE AUDI IN COLORADO!!!
