Civ IV is the best!

One more turn indeed! It's difficult to break away from Civilization once you're in the middle of a game!

Oh, to have done this as an interview with Sid Meier, a la the interviews with Romero!

Thanks a LOT for Matt Chat, Matt :-) I've discovered it a bit over a week ago and have been watching a few vids a day now... Trying to catch up ;-)
I've played many of the games you are discussing and am discovering some that I haven't played but heard about from others, when I was young(er).
Thanks very much for these little trips to my childhood! How much have I played Civ, heh...

Oh how many sleepless nights i have devoted to this game ...

Just FYI: I appreciate these videos and always look forward to seeing more. ^^

Another trick for non-conquest players interrested in an alpha century win: if another civ lauches their space-craft before you, I recall that if you simply capture their capital city, their program is cancelled and their craft has to come back to earth.
By the way, if you capture the capital of another civ, you risk putting them in a civil war and that civ can split into two different nation/civ if there is an empty "civ-slot" in the game.

This is my favorite game of all time. I never even liked the sequels, this one is it for me. I used to have alot of fun playing defensively (going for the Alpha-century win), focussing on population growth and science instead of conquest. I always like to leave all the civs alive and see how the geography of all the civs developped on the map. the two most important wonders in my view is the United Nations (as soon as somebody attacks you, you can end it by forcing peace), and womens' suffrage

This was my spouse's & my Christmas present to each other in 1991 (that & our twin sons' first Christmas). I still remember what a treat it was when this came in the mail just before Christmas that year. I played the Amiga version of Civ 1 at the following year's GenCon. We've since played every version of Sid Meier's Civilization (I'm currently spending way too much time with Civ 5), but Civ 2 was probably the best, with the wonder movies & Council video clips.
I can not tell you enough how happy I am that I found your channel! It kind of fills a gap - my childhood/youth relived!
Thanks!

A great review on a great game! Mostly growing up with consoles, the original Civ was the first PC game I ever really got into around '93, and it changed everything. The beginning of that game defines epicness, too. It's also so challenging! 5/5.

I can definitely see that. It must have been a real eye-opener coming to this game from consoles. I played IV so much I thought my computer was going to burn up. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Ah, Good' Ol' Civilization ... The "One More Turn" Game Ever, that's how addictive it is :P
By the way, Great Reviews! And a question... Are your books available in Spanish O-o ?

Thanks, Bajamamut. As far as I know, there are no plans for a Spanish edition, though things are looking very good for an Italian.
