How to turn the heel, pick up gusset stitches, and decrease gusset. Follows pattern of North Country Cotton Baby/Toddler socks (free in patterns page). Also similar to patterns in The Knitter's Handy Book of Patterns, and many other basic top-down socks. This video ends a little abruptly. The last words are "And now we're at the end of our decreases."

I also have a longer video of making this sock from beginning to end, including casting on, using DPN's, changing colors, dividing for the heel, working the heel (as shown in the video here, but including more of the action), decreasing for the toe, kitchener stitch bind-off, and weaving in the end. This video is too big to put on this site, but is included in the Knittinghelp CD-Rom, available http://knittinghelp.com/shop/products/knittinghelp-dot-com-web-site-cd.

  • @mishalewandowski You can visit the website too for more videos. They are better organized over there than here. The Getting Started may be of particular interest if you are just learning to knit.

  • how come you knit that fast?! doe you want to do a video about how to speedknit? thanks for this one.

  • I was trying to follow a pattern, and i've never done socks before so i got really confused when it came to the heel. Thanks for your video!

  • This is SO right on time! I put aside socks I was working on because I'd gotten to the heel. lol I'm normally a toe-upper because I never, ever have luck with cuff down insteps and heels.
