i was once intimidated by a bus because i was riding in the bus lane. i thought bus lanes were to be shared with cyclists... am i wrong?

motorists try to intimidate cyclists so they get out of their way... and where are the cyclists supposed to go when they are "pushed" off the road? onto the sidewalk, where it may be illegal to ride (as in santa monica, for example)? do they want us to get into cars and drive on that same street so that we can clog up the traffic even more?
