  • @55STARTREK That would have been too easy.

  • Its so sad none of these are flying in the air show circuit. last flight was in 1986 and it became a museum piece, how tragic.

  • @55STARTREK Because it wasn't in the script.

  • Why didn't they just pull him into the plane??

  • @gdholmfirth You can download a great C-124 for Flight Simulator X with a photo real instrument panel.

  • I flew from Ft. Bragg to Japan on these planes , landed at Wake, Guam on way to Yokahama.

  • I was trying to find unseen images of the Korean War and I saw a picture of one of these where you can only see its mouth open and no engines and I thought to my self wow is this in the right time period... What little did I know.

  • It was 1965 at Pope AFB, I was driving a line truck in heavy morning fog when all of a sudden I found myself under a giant wing! Holy crap I was headed straight for the main gear, only quick reflexes saved my butt. That was my only encounter with an "Old Shakey".

  • Flew many time from Bitburg AB to Wheelus AB in the Sixties
