Borehole Video of Microconduit Flow in Karst Well in Scott County, Virginia PART 1

This video shows one of 3 water bearing zones in a former production well at Natural Tunnel State Park as logged on 4/1/08 by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality's Groundwater Characterization Program. This cascading water-bearing zone is 175 feet below ground surface and "static" (non-pumping) ater level in the well on this date is 182 feet below ground surface. A set of microconduits at 478 feet is conveying most of the water from the three producing zones out of the well and stranding these jets of water above the water line. This series of video shows the complexity of karst hydrology that can have a direct impact on well efficiency and contaminant transport.
