@ajtemp2000 For our own benefit? We are not some helpless people that needs to wait, pray and hope for change.
-
@ajtemp2000 Besides how do you force someone to do ANYTHING with no power? If you don't even have any influence you can't force anything. You honestly believe integration was about helping blacks? Integration was brought about because of the fear of pan africanism and the idea that blacks might become independent from europeans. European wealth is almost totally dependent on the resources and capital of people of african descent. How bout we learn that and exploit what we have...
-
@ajtemp2000 No it is not their responsibility. It's not their duty to do anything for us. This is a eurocentric society that benefit those who are of european descent. Blacks need to make their own opportunities. I don't see asian americans sitting around waiting for whites to represent or build better schools or communities for them. Black people need to get off that shit and stop acting as if whites have some kind of superpower we don't. We are more than capable.
-
Sure, but what seriously hasn't been tried is us trying to produce a functioning community through consensus. This is our major lacking attribute.
It is their "white people" responsibility as the dominate, head of this society. This is the "opportunity" or rather the privilege the black director was eluding to.
We keep trying to play there game and win, no we lose, it;s designed that way. We needn't b focus on movies. It's producing justice. Forcing them so.
-
The reason there isn't more black actors, directors, and etc. is because blacks haven't built their own movie industry yet. It's not white people's job to tell our story. The sooner we realize the fact we should be handling our own business the better off we will be.

Mmm, I lourve that thick dark chocolate.
-
Doesn't a black director need to get funding to fulfill his project? How many blacks are willing to invest in a black director? Now THAT is an elephant in the room that just farted!

The silence of their White supremacistic actions speaks volumes.
I suppose if u are at the top of a food chain why would u want to make yourself fall down the chain.
Racism is acceptable and silent in 2011 and beyond- thats what u are fighting now...How do you combat something that white people arent even prepared to even speak about. White Liberal men that on other topics would spout continuous critique whimsy and opinion on anything else but race- Things wont change till they wake up

@ExoticByNature In England they have the same probs bt worse. Idris Elba had to go to the USA to break in.
Dont let this guy fool u...in the UK when some BM when they get in to certain positions they start getting delusions of grandure and think they have somehow trancended racism andtheir blackness...yeah right. Londons a lil better than rest of UK
I hardly ever see Blacks in general on tv who arent ...ghetto, needing aid in africa, or criminals or being an A-sexual token Boss

Sahbisun all i got to tell u is this wat u just said blacks needed to. All i got to say is this: the asians did it.....the latinos did it. If they can make that happedned after being oppressed by whites, we DEFINAteLY can.
Its ridiculous. If were ever going to attempt to solve the racial division in America, were going to have to discuss racial issues. And it seems that most white people try to avoid this topic at all cost, even when they clearly know there's a problem. Sad...

@ExoticByNature
Here's the thing though. Why can't we have our own Black entertainment business? This way we wouldn't have to deal with the mess of others. (And we could afford to call shots on what we wanna see and how we would like to represent ourselves.) What keeps us from not going forward? (Is it the same tactics that we see in the round circle?)

Wow, The problem is white people they've been in this position for so long & lied to themselves about what they've done to people of color.

Watch the body language of the men...this is so crazy to me. They know what the problem is, but say not one single word! Not even Steve McQueen would truthfully acknowledge the problem. (Seems like he wanted to say it, but beat around the bush.)
