Introduction, Theme and Variations by Schubert-Piatigorsky. I'm guessing that it was arranged by Gregor.

  • Love this Piece Thanks For posting !!

  • You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it!

  • There is a lovely freedom about his playing. An incredibly free bow arm. Thanks very much for showing all these lovely Piatigorsky videos. He was an incredible cellist.

  • You are welcome. I confess that I am not an avid listener of cello (mostly violin) but I certainly do enjoy a good cellist when I hear one. Seeing one is always a treat and I am glad you enjoyed it too.

  • Thank you SO much for uploading these! You have made my week! haha

  • Ahhh, nice! Glad to make you happy. Unfortunately, I think I have posted my last Piatigorsky clip, so enjoy these as best you can!

  • No words can be used to describe how amazing this is. Schubert was a great man and Piatigorsky was a great man. That is all!

  • Bravo for posting this magnificent performance.

    . IMO his tone might be the most lush of all cellists Likr Maple Syrup {datk, rich , sweet and rare}

  • thank you very much!

  • One of those performances that either makes me want to practice cello every single day for the rest of my life (so I can play like this) or never play again (knowing that I'll never be half this good!).

  • Is there a copy of this written down anywhere? I would love to play his arrangement of it.

  • whoever was on that piano ruined it, the man cant play with the music.

  • What a masterful cellist!!! Piatigorsky always plays with great elan, dazzling technique and a gorgeous sound. He is the consummate performer with a bigger than life musical personality. Never a dull moment and impeccable taste.

  • piano @ 4:48- 4:53
