SUMMER FISHING FINALE
I cant believe that summer is done. When you wake up to temperatures in the 40s, you know summer is over. Having said that, we sure went out with a bang.
BLUEGILL DOMINATION
Indeed, indeed!!! Bluegills are just not safe around us. We can find them, catch them en-mass at will, then feast like kings. A special thanks to Jim and Judy for letting us use their pontoon boat and allowing us to bluegill harvest their lake. Dont worry, I wont be back until we get some hard-water. A special thanks to Dice for arranging/making it happen.
FLY FISHING FOR TROUT
Every year we head up-north. I bring my fly rod and enjoy the white fly hatch and hopper season on my favorite trout stream. I dont catch big trout, but I catch a lot of small rainbow and brown trout. Dont be fooled, the big trout are in the river, I just cant catch them. I saw 3 monster trout feeding on white flies, and I could not get any of them to bite my fly. Now that was frustrating.
SPEAR FISHING
Unfortunately, we started late this year. Sully called me up and said he wanted to go. Hell, I hadnt spear fished in over 15 years. I found my gun from years gone past, and sure enough, the band had rotted. My fins and booties dry rooted too.
Sully made some custom guns out of bow-fishing arrows, pvc pipe, and exercise bands. Within 24 hours, we were on the water and killing fish. The guns were only powerful enough to kill bluegills, but it was fun and the gills were delicious.
When my new bands came in from the scuba shop, it was game over. No more arrows bouncing off of carp. The body count started to tally.
Sully also invited DICE. We couldnt even pry DICE out of the water. DICE will spear fish well after he has THERMO-ED out. He is CRAZY-REDONKULOUS!!!
Sully and Dice liked my spear gun which is a JBL. Soon, they bought their own. They too enjoy the power and lethality of a band gun.
Spear fishing is a total blast. I am glad I have some friends to regularly share this ever-so-addictive hobby. It is great for intel as well as a captivating way to see the under water world.
MALIBU MINI X
This is an awesome fish and dive kayak. We used the kayaks to get to some really great dive sites. I can easily get on the kayak when I am in water that is well over my head. She serves as a great storage facility for all your gear.
Kayaks are great for drift dives in rivers. One person mans the kayaks as the others spearfish. When, it is time to go, just hop on the kayak and paddle home. We drifted about 2 miles of river on one of our spear fish hunts. This sure beats walking or swimming back to the car.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Summer may be over, but my fall video productions will start soon. I plan on one or two fall videos.

(spear-fishing is not for the weak.)
Love the underwater speargun footage. Reminds me of a first person shooter game we are about to embark on... BTW you are going to hunt this year; let that be known! Thanks again for introducing me to speargun fishing!! Lovin it!

Oh, I have a couple pontoon (the little river rafts) trips set up for fall, and maybe a little ice fishing. I really don't do any hunting? What's it like? Maybe sometime I would like to start.
