After scoring 6 goals in 4 games for Australia, Joel Porter decided to ply his trade in Europe. After almost signing for Bolton Wanderers, Rayo Vallecano, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland, Joel made the surprise move to Hartlepool. In his first full season he won the Fans' Player of the Year.

kept pools up this season, i seen him down the town once and he gave me a vegimite sandwich, i dunno what he was doin walking round the town on a satder night for though with a sandwich tucked in his back pocket, he probably didnt have enough money for a parmo.

Great to see Joel Porter in action. He was a legend in his young days in Australia at Melbourne Knights, with speed to burn he could carve through the best of the National League's defences - our chant while he played for us was "Joel Porter walsk on water, tra la la la la, la la la la". It is disgraceful that so many hacks have made it into the Australian national team, but Joel was never given the chance to represent Australia. Best of luck Joel in your continuing exploits in England.

Thanks for the comment. Well he did play for Australia in the Oceania Cup and got 6 goals in 4 games. I agree Joel should be given the chance to play for them once more.
