A scene from the pilot of Star Trek Deep Space Nine where Captain Picard bids farewell to Chief O'Brien on the Enterprise-D. This scene was cut from future broadcasts in favour of advertising space, but is once again included on the DVD release.

This is a scene where the warmth, dignity and respect that the Picard is known for really shines. That last few seconds expression of regret needs no words to describe. Shakespearean stage actors trump hollywood actors anyday of the week.

I think you may have read my comment. I had posted something like what you said, saying how as a matter or respect and admiration Picard safely transports O'Brien to DS9 much like how O'Brien safely transported Picard and many Enterprise crewmembers over the years.

I hope DS9 will be remastered and they will reintegrate this moment in the pilot. It is special especially for a fan of both shows. Must be reintegrated :)

Beautifull scene, How could you cut this for commercial space?? It's one of the most important scenes, signifying that a new era of star trek begins!
