Cabochons are flat backed decorations that are very popular with hair accessories. They are available in a wide variety holiday and special interest themes. The cabochons we carry are made from a light weight plastic resin. They are thin, strong, light weight and have completely flat backs which makes them perfect for bow centers and hair clip decorations.

In this video I will show you an easy project adding a Santa cabochon to a hair clip lined with holiday print grosgrain ribbon. Use the same technique to make hair clips for virtually any occasion.

  • What brand of double sided tape do you use? I got some for scrapbooking and the kind I got didn't stick very well.

  • @mcclainescents It is called D670 tape. It is not a scrapbooking tape, but actually a tape designed originally for framing and attaching different materials to metal. It works very well. It is not sold in stores that I'm aware of but we do have it on our website. The link is in the video description above.

  • Why did you use hot glue to attach the cabachons and not the sticky tape stuff?

    Great idea!

  • @amhendrix2004 You can also use the tape for the cabochon. I prefer to use hot glue when attaching embellishments like that because you can put the glue exactly where you want it to be and hide it behind the cabochon completely. Depending on the shape of the cabochon you are using, you can have some tape stick out from the edges of the cabochon.
