sublime beauty. i am in love

As smooth as it gets. Every young student who wants to learn to sing tenor should be made to listen to this---multiple times. If a young person sings this way, the voice will grown on its own, and it will remain always healty. This is arguably the most beautiful tenor voice of all time.

today i listened to a cd with arias and songs sung by a few great tenors of the past (like Caruso or Tauber and others ) and i didnt know when i was listening who is who. and every time i said to myself THAT one (aria , song) is so beautiful and every time I looked at the booklet and it said every time "Benjamino Gigli". a blessed voice is this.

An incredibly velvet voice. Nobody has ever sung this aria with such depth and beauty. Thank you so much for uploading.
I have only recently become a fan of Gigli and this and Amarilli are my favourites , thank you for uploading . A friend was listening to him and I asked who it was and I am ashamed to say I had never heard of him but my response was " this guy is better than Pavarotti"

@tavam55 If you spend some time on YT you'll discover that there are hundreds of tenors better than Pavarotti - especially pre-War.

Thanks a lot Merrihew for posting this treasure. The more we argue about tenors the more we disagree. But I think that there should be consensus that Gigli had the greatest Mezzo voice ever.

I don't disagree. My only problem is the fairly early onset of sloppiness in his technique. Not a problem with some material, but check out his Il Mio Tesoro which I will post as a request. Its the worst version I've ever heard.
