First go at my new cam. Put this up for anyone who is considering buying one. Im moving from HV20- HF10 to this, so I'm still learning the manual controls ( as is evident in this bit of film, lol),
I uploaded this in 1080p 4-6mbps h264, it appears to have lost alot of quality in the render, the footage when put on the PC is simply stunning, the step up in quality from the HV20 or the top quality AVCHD of the HF10 is very noticeable.
I read alot of reviews of this cam complaining about the low light performance, I may be a newb to pro cams, but I sat in a dark room and filmed around the house and had trouble finding grain in the footage, the camera kept the blacks black even at +18db gain.
Another massive win with this cam,
pull the sd card out of the cam,
put it in your card reader,
Open Sony Vegas, import media (not drag and drop, just read from the card)
and the best..... Preview in best quality, even with crossfades.
any questions, let me know.

  • Great video mines is in the mail & should be here Monday. Question How many FPS did you shoot this is in?

  • 25 progressive

    its all i shoot in.

  • I read now where there was a sig diff between the high end, achd cameras and the hf100.....glad to have read that.....What do you know about uploading these cards onto Windows Movie Maker? I know this is not the best editing software, but until I buy, should I still be able to use it, given codec possible problems and such?

    tks again;

    Tim.

  • there is a difference, but overall I am still wrapped with the performance of my hf10, bang for your buck, I would say its a hands down winner.

In saying that, i love my HM100, the quality is awsum.

see the link below for a recent shoot.

U will have to convert to get it into moviemaker, both file versions, q time and xd cam, are uncompatible.

    Sony vegas is your friend.

  • great vid? do you have to remove pulldown?

  • no. interlaced footage is the devil, lol. I always shoot progressive. this cam has a stack of mode options, so if you wanted to shoot interlaced you could.

  • Nice video, what's the name of the song

  • Cute baby:) I just ordered this camera, should be getting here this week. Can't wait!

  • fantastic video

  • @LiveWebVideo well yes, zoom is weak.

Lenses are expensive or if its cheap its bad.

I bought 2 tele, both bad. Cant even use one. I bought it on ebay. Stupid me. Wide angle is ok, but should be wider. But the low light... noisy with the boost function if its with artificial light. I bought this because of the memory card thing. And the sony was too expensive. And I miss the 50/60fps on full HD

  • no not really, however, reading the forums there seems to be a few gripes. suppose it depends where your coming from, pro or consumer. The only thing i could think of would be 20x optical zoom. where do you stop wanting though? Im wrapped its a great cam.

  • any bad experience so far? negative things about the camera?
