A Pelican?
Joes Point-of-View

Frankie walked into my room, holding his PSP in hand. Why am I not surprised?
"Joe, mom wants to talk to you."
"It wasnt my fault! Kevin forced me to! Hes out control! Out of control I tell you!"
He looked up from his game, and stared at me confused.
"Say what?"
"Huh? Oh, nothing. Why does she want to talk to us?"
"Family meeting or something."
"Wow. I havent had one of those in years".
"Amazing. Look, just be down in 10 minutes."
He left the room, concentrating on his game again. He paused at my door way, then took out his iPhone from his pocket. Some times I wished Frankie was a bit older before our music got all this attention. He was just too spoiled sometimes. I never had a cellphone when I was his age. But if we could afford it then, or if there were iPhones then, I guess Id take more advantage of it more than he ever does.
I closed the door behind him, then turned on the T.V. I dont know what this meeting thing is about, but Im sure itd be important. Actually, the last official family meeting we had, was when Frankie got potty trained. So youd imagine how long ago that was.
Our Love Bug video started to play on MTv, then I turned the T.V. off. It was just weird watching myself on television. Though I was somehow used to it.
I walked out into the hallway, seeing Kevin on the way.
"Whats the whole meeting thing about? I swear Joe, if its about the jackhammer thing, Im blaming you."
"And since when did I ever take the blame Kevin?"
"Youre right. Youre way better at twisting the story. Ill never win. Damn it!"
"Then I wont blame you, if you dont blame me."
"Deal. But then, who do we blame?"
We were both silent for half a second, but then we both answered his question in unison.
"Nick."
Nick rushed out of his room, pulling a hoodie over his head.
"Oh no youre not! If this is about the jackhammer thing, I wasnt involved! Blame the dog. Elvis is strong right? Its possible, Joe."
"I might just be able to pull that story off..."
Kev rolled his eyes and we all went down stairs and into the living room.
"Mom and dad will never believe Elvis did all that damage. Its cement for crying out loud!"
"I know Kev. Thats why Im blaming Oprah."
"Oprah?! Since when have you lost it?!"
"Since when did I ever have it, dear brother?"
"Good point. You've been insane all your life. Starting with the glowing Barney shirt-"
"Okay, so Oprah somehow sneaked into our garage. But how could I see her if I was asleep? Oh! I heard a pelican, then I woke up."
"Pelican? Joe, are you kidding?"
"What? Does Oprah hate pelicans?"
"Well..I dont...Maybe...No."
"My point exactly."
"So youre saying, Oprah sneaked into our garage, with a pelican as her accomplice? Oprah lives in Chicago! Besides, why would she steal a jack hammer? Why would she need one?! And Im pretty sure she doesnt have a pet pelican."
"Or does she?"
I raised an eyebrow at him. He rolled his eyes, and the three of us plopped down on the couch. Frankie came down next, and we all waited for mom and dad.
Mom and dad came down the stairs slowly, looking tensed. Then, I wondered what it was really about. If it was about us messing around with the jackhammer, theyd be furious, not anxious. They walked over to the other couch, and sat down.
"Dang it, move Frankie!"
"I'm not moving Nick! You move!"
"Move!"
Nick and Frankie were trying to push each other of the couch, and squishing me and Kevin in the process. Mom gave me a look, and with a groan, I sat on the carpet.
"Thank you Joseph."
"Anytime Mom."
I tried to force a smile, but acting was never really my thing.
"So dad, Kevin started, whats up?"
Dad looked over to mom, and she gave him a slight nod.
"First of all, you boys need to save your reaction until after your mother and I explain."
