Whoever arranged this apparently never listened to military music before.
If it's sung acappella, it should maintain a monophonic texture symbolizing the military's ability to have individuals function as one cohesive unit. If he wanted homophonic harmonies, he should've gotten a band to accompany the choir.

@superpont - It's great that we found USMC's willing to sing! And Sing! I've never found a Marine/JarHead/LeatherNeck that wouldn't sing the Marine Anthem, whether they are off-key or not! Hell, They sang it in a Catholic Church at my Daddy's funeral out-loud! They didn't worry about how they sounded! I was only embarassed that I only knew the first verse and my surviving sisters didn't know any of them ... I was egging on the Marines and the bagpipes! Semper Fi. I love you Daddy.

Why did you just insult my Corps? Next time try to keep in mind the character of the group. We are self assuered, self motivated, and proud to the core. Some would call all that together as arrogant. Call it what you will but you cant sing our hymn without embrassing what we are. I phrase it that way because to have that understand also means you must know you may take the Marine out of the uniform but you will never remove the Marine from character. Once a Marine always a Marine.

God, this is painful to listen to. What kind of dandy shit is that. Grab a hold of your nuts, this isnt a song praising Jesus, its about the most lethal group of boogey men the earth has ever seen. If someone sang like that in bootcamp they'd have gotten drop kicked. This saddens me. Apparently, no version I can find of the hymn will ever sound as good as 65 recruits bellowing it out right before assaulting the rack.
