Compare this reaction with the reception Bush gets around the world. Or even within the US. I have never seen anyone get so much hate visiting the UN, and we New Yorkers have hosted Khadafi, Sadaam Hussein, Arafat, Fidel Castro, etc.
One of Bush's greatest sins is to squander all the support we got after 9/11. Being a NYCer, I remember it well. Foreigners, online and in person, would ask how I was doing. Damn that Bush. Let's all Obama can repair the damage.
