Almourol Castelo Portugal (HD)

CASTELO de ALMOUROL, fortaleza situada num ilhéu granítico a meio do rio Tejo está localizado na freguesia da Praia do Ribatejo, distrito de Santarém. Trata-se de uma construção militar cuja situação geográfica privilegiada a tornou um ponto estratégico importante e que se encontra associada a várias lendas da cavalaria medieval. A sua primitiva fundação é anterior à ocupação romana.O castelo foi reedificado em 1171 por Gualdim Pais,mestre da Ordem dos Templários. O acesso ao Castelo só é possivel por transporte maritimo, afim de visitar o interior das muralhas. O castelo de Almourol tornou-se num ponto estratégico na zona do Tejo para o controlo de comércio de azeite, trigo, carne de porco, frutas e madeira entre as diferentes regiões do território e Lisboa. CASTELO de ALMOUROL, situated on a granite islet fortress in the middle of the Tejo River is located in the village of Praia do Ribatejo, district of Santarém.
