  • Observing a fact is not exploitation.

  • This isn't exploitation. It's observation. Krugman is right.

  • thumbs up

  • let him whip it up. who cares? krugmans gang has lost a lot of power. he was never correct on a lot anyway. the new york times will be going bankrupt soon anyway

  • There is no right to have something you can't afford. There is no right to education, because that necessary involves STEALING from someone so that the government can give you a kickback of "free" education as some corrupt vote-buying scheme.

Voluntary associations without government intrusion are the best way to get the rights you deserve.

It is socialists who believe in greedily grabbing more money and power. Those who believe in freedom demand less government so that ALL can be more free.

  • yo herbs, nothing you say has any credibility

none of ur assertions about "slavery," about "tyranny," about taxes, about the constitution or about the poor are credible

"what best serves the poor?" really!? do u know as much about that as u do the constitution? "more gov't = less charity" is a lie

    how about freedom ...

    to marry who you chose?

    to an education?

    from discrimination?

to live & work where u choose?

the hypocritical right don't believe in freedom, they believe in more money

  • poor, huddled masses are best served by free people giving generously of their own resources, not by government stealing from people to fund a bureaucracy that kicks back a small portion of what it has stolen.

private charity works best when the government does not steal from its people the means with which they can be charitable.

more government means less charity, not more. people are best served by freedom. government does not help the poor, it only enslaves them.

  • ok...whatever dude.

first it's slavery, then its tyranny because it's un-constitutional, then when you find out, "oh, it's actually in the constitution?" now it's tyranny because, "well it's stupid" wait, really?

dude check-it, you sound like an articulate, angry guy who overuses wild grandiose hyperbole to demonize whatever u dont like and oh yeah, u don't want to pay taxes.

no principles, no protecting freedom, no poor, huddled masses, just good ole self-centered anger and greed.

  • a government full of opportunistic crooks who change the rules as they go and give out favors to their cronies is tyranny.

taxing income is at best stupid, and any tax above 10% of income is blasphemous. God only asks 10%; the government demands (through the threat of force) half our income. That is tyranny.

  • wait, seriously bra? check-it, obviously it was ratified by a "sufficient number of states" else it would not be in the constitution, but to humor you...

    - required for ratification: 36

    - number that ratified: 42

but this is a red-herring, your question was, "what constitutional justification is there for an income tax?"

    the answer is

"the 16 amendment" point blank, period. which irrefutably destroys your "tyranny" argument.

what u call tyranny is not tyranny, just stuff u don't like

  • Did a sufficient number of states ratify this amendment? Is there any law that states that individuals are liable to the income tax? You need to do some more research. The truth will absolutely shock you.

  • The Constitution forbids any government involvement in education, the economy, or health care. It does not matter if voters want it. It is strictly against the Constitution.
