Alicia Silverstone, actress and author of The Kind Diet, outlines her efforts to influence others to make eco-friendly choices. In reference to environmental benefit parties, she says, "It's the Hollywood thing - they're...making it glamorous but they're not walking the walk."

-----

Long before it was cool to "be green," critically acclaimed actress Alicia Silverstone was coming forward as a passionate and vocal advocate for environmental causes. In her new book, Silverstone reveals how eating a plant-based diet not only provides numerous health benefits for you, but is also a major contribution to the health of the planet.

Filled with personal anecdotes, motivational tips, and nearly 100 recipes, The Kind Diet is a fun and accessible way to begin your own journey toward better health. Whether youre simply curious about life without meat or are ready to go macrobiotic, The Kind Diet's three different approaches offer a way to choose the path that's right for you. - Kepler's Books

Alicia Silverstone is an American actress, author, and former fashion model. She first came to widespread attention in music videos for Aerosmith, and is best known for her roles in Hollywood films such as Clueless (1995) and her portrayal of Batgirl in Batman & Robin (1997).

Silverstone recently published the vegan nutrition book, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight and Saving the Planet. The guide includes diet and fitness guidance and advice, along with holistic living tips. It "explores the connection between what we put in our bodies and what we're doing to the planet, and how choosing the right foods in the kitchen can help you feeling lighter, sexier, and more alive." She has also produced an online production called "The Kind Life."

It is described as an online expansion of her book, focusing on global warming and vegetarian topics.

  • Love her. She is very consistent with her principles. I have to say that she actually got me thinking about veganism once she appeared as a guest in "The View". I've now been vegan for nearly 3 years.

  • what a woman! she embodies everything i believe in!

  • I love this gal but my idea of "really yummy food" is not the crap she wants to eat!

  • Love, Love, Love to you Alicia. Thank you. xxxx

  • Umm, I loved her in Clueless, but now I understand why she didn't make it. There is being vegan, and then there is being straight up annoying about it. She sounds like she'd be really hard to deal with.

  • @rhymingisfun My original comment was replying to a comment about how Jesus Christ didn't want us to eat meat. You replied to my comment. I'm not talking about what Alicia is talking about, I was simply letting someone know the truth about where JESUS CHRIST stood with the whole meat situation. I agree that Alicia's message is one that should be heard:) Your welcome:)

  • @Unim6 please please please don't comment on a topic that you haven't fully researched. Shes not just talking about being vegan for our ethics and morals - she's talking about how mass animal farming is affecting the planet. That is something EVERYONE needs to know about, not just vegans.

  • @Unim6 Not Alicia Silvertone BTW:) Message to people being mean to meat eaters:) I'm sorry!

  • Your malnourished...

  • @rhymingisfun but they ate bread with it... The point is, eating meat isn't bad, meat has vital nutrients and stuff like that...:)

  • @Unim6 Jesus also didn't go to Macdonalds and get his cattle in a burger bun.

  • Shower less, eat more beef.
