東武神社＠宮城県岩沼市

東武（とうたけ）神社は、岩沼市桑原の旧国道4号線沿いにあり、かつては「当竹神社」と記されていました。
由来は不明ですが、境内にある碑を調べると、遅くとも寛政年間（1789～1801年）には建てられていたことが分かります。
明治42年に竹駒神社に合祀され、大正8年に現在地に遷宮（神体を移すこと）されています。
ここにはかつて一里塚があり、奥州街道を行きかう人々が神社に参拝していました。

This is the Toutake shrine in Kuwabara,Iwanuma city,Miyagi prefecture. It is along the old fourth national road.
This Shinto shrine was built at latest in Kansei year (1789～1801).
The milestone was here before, and people who came and went in the Oushu highway were visiting the Shinto shrine.
