safer than volvo

The crash might look bad, but it's actually better for the driver. Those zones are simply "crush zones" which absorb more of the impact over a longer period of time ... thus reducing the effect on the driver.

I don't crash in the first place.

@ak5504 I have little faith that most of the YouTube population could even conceive your point That isn't to say that you are unclear.

@ak5504 your point is a good one - it's better for the front to crumple than not - but I think you meant Force = Impulse/Time, in which case extending the time does decrease the force that needs to be applied for a fixed change in momentum. Or stated in a way people might be more familiar with (F=ma), if the crumple zone is larger/longer, then the rate of deceleration is less, and so the force exerted is also less.

@kent1105 Because sometimes, the head will snap to the side, and in many cases, the head DOES hit the side window.

Just remember what these guys were building only a few years ago.
Well done, Kia/Hyundai.

How come the side curtain airbags are activated even the car is only having a front impact
-
this right !

@ak5504 f=impulse x time? thats not what i learned in physics is this somekind of higher physics?
some stupid ass think the front looks horrible after the crash?
It totally doesnt matter how the car looks like after the crash
It matters only for the driver's safety

For everyone that's complaining about how the "front looks after this crash".....you're all dumbasses. Go to the IIHS channel on here or their website and take a look at all the other crashed cars. Or for example, watch the video for the 2009 Volvo C30 crash (also a 'Top Safety Pick') and notice how the A-pillar bends just like this Kia's. And then ask yourselves, how would your clunkers look after a crash?
