the Dept of War has known since 1863 that photos from the battlefields are a bad idea, from their point of view, and control of media access to information began being taught to senior officers from that time. VN war is viewed as lost because of footage on TV, but that war went on for quite some time, and the US generals definitely limited media access to information as much as they could, which was considerable.
