Copyright of this video: Tonal Ties Productions, P.P. de Rooij, C. 2010. Valentina Lisitsa - filmed in Amsterdam, 25 May 2010 - playing large segments of the Rachmaninoff/Warenberg 5th piano concerto. I combined this great footage with my interview with Valentina on this concerto and with other footage of her playing this music, all published in a video-report elsewhere on my channel,

Enjoy the music and Valja's brilliant playing :)

  • Do you think Rachmaninoff would be disappointed to hear this composition or do you think he would have liked it?

  • @fierydog : he would smile when Valentina is playing it.

  • @fierydog AMAZING! reg6(dot)com

  • EXCELLENT

  • somebody needs to tune that piano.

  • @PieterdeRooijHolland he'd tap it

  • I love this women she plays Rach how he should be played .

  • @steventunnicliffe81 I agree that the orchestral version is by far better; however, I do like this piano transcription as well - especially when played solo, without the orchestra. When I hear both the orchestra and the piano together it sounds quite messy!

And by the way, this isn't "Lisitsa's transcription" - the transcription was made by Alexander Warenberg. Valentina is just playing it. :-)

  • @fierydog My thoughts too. Her playing is stupendous. There is nothing contrived or fake about her performance. Her artistry and feelings well up from her heart into those wonderful fingers to bless our ears with magic.

  • LoL

  • This is not really in relation to her transcription or play, but I do think that this piece suffers from a significant loss of 'colour' when played on the piano. You could probably say this about many pieces, but in some the excitement associated with a virtuoso transcription for solo piano can compensate; imo, this is not one of those pieces. The music is far more beautiful in its orchestral version imo. That being said, Lisitsa's transcription is very full and Rachmaninoff'esque.

  • SHE IS MORE BEAUTIFUL AT THE CHOPIN ETUDE MOVIES!!
