my favorite is when Kubrick insults all three races/cultures in one scene. when the vietnamese girl is pimped for $10 to many men (but she doesn't care, because she gets money) but she won't have sex with the black guy because the rumour they are "bigger" and its no good. black guy shows her its not true so he can get laid and then walks off with her. the big white guy dominates over him and takes the girl without contest, saying a racial slur but then says something good to him. that is genius

the film is not about vietnam, it's just set in vietnam. it's about dehumanization and a satirical look at humanity. so many people just don't understand the movie or its content, i guess that is something of a trademark for Kubrick

its amazing how many people like this movie but dont actually understand what it is about. that simple fact would make Kubrick smile even more.

One of my favorite movies. And I am an Indian and I can watch whatever the fucking shit i want.....be it American or Russian....whats good is good...no boundaries

lee ermey should be a real life football coach, that guy can motivate the weakest bastard on earth to become the bravest motherfucker on earth.love this film more than any other because of its realism and it shows how tough is to become a marine. this is not the typical vietnam war film with soldiers walking on a jungle full of gooks and traps.the best of this film is lee ermey and the marines fighting in a destroyed city and killing a female sniper which is very unusual in any other war film.

dear lord how I miss my days as an Infantryman. At least there we were a real team, each one ready to give our life for our brothers. The outside (society) IS A WORLD OF SHIT! But I am alive... and I AM NOT afraid!
