Intuit Website, Homestead Website, Tutorial - Dashboard

Homestead software is provided by Intuit, http://intuit.com, the same company that makes Quickbooks accounting software. http://quickbooks. Homestead website building software is an easy point and click, drag and drop software for non-techies. People who have used email or Microsoft Word will see that the menus and icons are similar. You don't need to have any knowledge of writing code, html or css.

If you can send an email then you can use Homestead software. It's cost effective for people who want to create a website by doing it themselves instead of paying a professional webmaster who writes custom sites in code.

The best approach is to become familiar with just a few basics so you can get a simple website up on the net. Don't try to learn dozens of facts and steps at once. You may not need it and it can be overwhelming.

Often non-techies are intimated by the idea of buildling their own website and once they see the point and click style icons and menus the process seems less threatening.

The steps to get to a dashboard for editing include entering your username and login password, clicking on the words "edit my website" and there you are at the edting screen. If you want to use the version that offers more options you can click "Do more with sitebuilder" and another screen will open up.

There will be familiar words in the menu across the upper left, and the icons will look familiar to users of email or Microsoft Word. Click on some text and you'll see a box open up to the right with choices for edting the text. Click on a title or some text and you can drag it around on the screen.

When you're done just click the icon that says Save and click Publish. A screen will open up to show you how the site looks now on the internet.

For technewbs, tech newbies, it's best to keep it simple. If a computer tutor has walked you through the steps to set up your site you can learn to edit it. If you don't have a computer tutor available you can click on Help and go through the articles and videos to learn more.

Good luck with your homestead.com website and have fun.

Tour of dashboard shows that menu and icons are familiar looking to people who are used to using Microsoft Word or email.
