Fashion Week Internationale heads to Medellin for Colombia Fashion Week. Formerly the old stomping ground of Pablo Escobar, the city is now trying to throw off its powdery legacy and push fashion up the noses of the world. Medellin is also fast becoming the plastic surgery capital of South America; people are flying in from all over the world to sample the city's budget body enhancement. We look at how the legacy of the narco-aesthetic inspired by the heady days of the Escobar era is being pushed out in favor of a more European silhouette, i.e. less tits and ass. Along our journey we meet Escobar's brother, Roberto, and Charlet tries her hand (and legs) at the national sport of pole dancing. We also find out just how far one woman will go to plump her buns.

Como chileno puedo asegurar que esa es la exacta imagen que las mujeres colombianas venden aquí en Santiago; ropa ajustada, exceso de maquillaje, senos y trasero operados, actitud vulgar, etc. Lo mismo pasa en Buenos Aires, Madrid o cualquier rincón del planeta. Me parece abusivo generalizar, si bien es cierto hay una región de nuestro país en donde las mujeres son así, no significa que sea un fenómeno general en todo el país, es como decir que los peruanos son tontos, que los chilenos hablan como idiotas, que los brasileños solo bailan, los méxicanos son narcos, los estadounidenses brutos, los britanicos colonialistas y creo que NO podemos generalizar definitivamente.

The 112 dislikes that this video has so far acquired, versus only 62 likes, might as well be an indication that a majority of Youtube's viewers don't find racist content acceptable. I must say this video from Vice is very manipulative, untruthful, sensationalist and brings us back to the times when it was right and lawful to lynch a Negro. In 2012 there is no place for racism and cultural insensitivity on Youtube.

It's very strange to see this video still on Youtube. The presenter behaves in a racist fashion and makes racist remarks. If the people in the video were black it would probably have been taken off Youtube already. Them being Latinos and the country being Colombia, is it OK for a grossly insensitive presenter (presumably British) "expose" Colombia as a narco-trafficking, women-hating country with no fashion culture?
