Geiriau:
Byddwn ffyddlon i'n gwlad
Amddiffynwn ein tir
Er pob gormes a brad
Mynnwn gredu yn y gwir
Tra bo haul yn y nen
Tra bo Duw i ni'n ben
Fe fydd Ysbryd Rebeca yn fyw yn yr efail wen

Ganrif a hanner yn ol
A'n gwlad o dan ormes landlordiaid a hawliau ein tir
Daeth gwr o Garnabwth i fynnu ei rhyddid i'r werin
I gael cerdded ei thir

Mae'n rwystrau yn dal i'w goresgyn
Ac mae taeog ac estron yn ein herbyn
Ond mae ysbryd Carnabwth yn ein galw i'w ddilyn o hyd

Byddwn ffyddlon i'n gwlad
Amddiffynwn ein tir
Er pob gormes a brad
Mynnwn gredu yn y gwir
Tra bo haul yn y nen
Tra bo Duw i ni'n ben
Fe fydd Ysbryd Rebeca yn fyw yn yr efail wen

Er cerdded o'r amser a thrwy'r blynyddoedd
Heb adael ond atgof o'r tollbyrth a losgwyd i'r llawr
Mae ein bro dan warchae a'i chwedlau a'i hanes a'i hacen
Sy'n cael ei sathru i'r llawr

Mae'n rwystrau yn dal i'w goresgyn
Ac mae taeog ac estron yn ein herbyn
Ond mae ysbryd Carnabwth yn ein galw i'w ddilyn o hyd

Byddwn ffyddlon i'n gwlad
Amddiffynwn ein tir
Er pob gormes a brad
Mynnwn gredu yn y gwir
Tra bo haul yn y nen
Tra bo Duw i ni'n ben
Fe fydd Ysbryd Rebeca yn fyw yn yr efail wen

Mae'n rwystrau yn dal i'w goresgyn
Ac mae taeog ac estron yn ein herbyn
Ond mae ysbryd Carnabwth yn ein galw i'w ddilyn o hyd

Byddwn ffyddlon i'n gwlad
Amddiffynwn ein tir
Er pob gormes a brad
Mynnwn gredu yn y gwir
Tra bo haul yn y nen
Tra bo Duw i ni'n ben
Fe fydd Ysbryd Rebeca yn fyw yn yr efail wen (efail wen)
Fe fydd Ysbryd Rebeca yn fyw yn yr efail wen

Lyrics:
We'll be loyal to our land
And we'll defend our country
Despite any oppression and betrayal
We'll maintain belief in the truth
Whilst there's a sun in the sky
Whilst there's a God as a guide
The Spirit of Rebeca will live in the 'Efail Wen.'

A century and a half ago
And our country under the repression of landlords and the rights of our land
A man of Carnabwth came to demand freedom of the folk
To be able to walk her land

There are still obstacles left to defeat
And villains and strangers are against us
But the spirit of Carnabwth calls us to follow him still

We'll be loyal to our land
And we'll defend our country
Despite any oppression and betrayal
We'll maintain belief in the truth
Whilst there's a sun in the sky
Whilst there's a God as a guide
The Spirit of Rebeca will live in the 'Efail Wen.'

Since walking through time and over the years
Leaving only a memory of the tollgates that were burnt to the ground
Our land is under siege and our myths and tale and history and accent
Are trampled to the ground
There are still obstacles left to defeat
And villains and strangers are against us
But the spirit of Carnabwth calls us to follow him still

We'll be loyal to our land
And we'll defend our country
Despite any oppression and betrayal
We'll maintain belief in the truth
Whilst there's a sun in the sky
Whilst there's a God as a guide
The Spirit of Rebeca will live in the 'Efail Wen.'

There are still obstacles left to defeat
And villains and strangers are against us
But the spirit of Carnabwth calls us to follow him still

We'll be loyal to our land
And we'll defend our country
Despite any oppression and betrayal
We'll maintain belief in the truth
Whilst there's a sun in the sky
Whilst there's a God as a guide
The Spirit of Rebeca will live in the 'Efail Wen.' (Efail Wen)
The Spirit of Rebeca will live in the 'Efail Wen.'

  • @CoralinesBIGFan

Haha right! - what do you mean when you say "coz it sounds like mj" ?

  • Awesome beautiful song! Can you tell me more about her and her fight for the freedom of Cymru? Thank you very much!

  • @szalard For example – a place called Rhayader had six toll gates on the roads into town therefore any journey made from crossing from one field to another or especially bringing animals into or from market would be incredibly expensive. Terribly unfair taxation. And this is what sparked the protests.

  • @szalard

The rioters were men – farmers, dressed in women’s clothing and who called themselves ‘Merched Beca’ or ‘Terfysgoedd Beca’ who would take action against the toll-gates – symbols of high taxes, tolls and tyranny by smashing them down and terrorising the gatekeepers. The riots stopped in 1844 for many reasons and in that same year a Parliamentary act to consolidate and amend the laws relating to turnpike trusts in Wales was passed.

  • @szalard

You can debate on why the called themselves 'Merched Beca' - it was either a biblical reference to Genesis XXIV, 60 - "And they blessed rebecca, and said unto her, Thou art our sister. Be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gates of those that hate them." (Carnabwth was a religious man) or other stories say that it was a woman called Rebeca who lent them the women clothing. More info can be found on the internet –I’ve only given a brief explanation!

  • @3tangle3 farmers ;)

  • @DistantDreamer93 Efail wen meaning white smithy was a tollgate destroyed on 6th June 1839...no one knew who did it to this day ;)

  • @enigmaticatherealone no one rlly cares if you from whatever side of the landsker, you were just more culturally assimilated in flemish/english elite living there...just a legacy of the complex history..i dont know who seriously judges ppl on that lol....the line has a negative effect on the area

  • @3tangle3 Simple, The Landsker.....

  • i am not however naive to the fact that the welsh chruch repressed welsh folk music

  • @enigmaticatherealone what are you on about?? what are these bizzarre statements.....the english state oppressed the welsh culture...its a miracle its survived LONG LIVE VARIETY IN THE WORLD AND THE SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE!!! ry'n ni yma o hyd

  • It's a little sad to see this begin to drift into them and us because those who know Pembrokeshire will know how well we all get along.

  • @DistantDreamer93 the sad thing, the english medium classes in Wales especially the east are not taught any of this welsh history. Are we surprised that they dont a generally more positive outlook on Wales, learn welsh or indeed want more rights for the welsh culture

  • Ardderchog!! Diolch yn fawr iawn.
