This video marks the end of analog broadcast by Twin Cities Public Television on its St. Paul-based channel two. Bill Schrankler, the first person on the air in what was KTCA in September 1957, is the last person on the analog channel as TPT switches to digital broadcasts along with other stations in the country on June 12, 2009.
My pal Jeff Strate worked at Como with most of the folks listed by JRNipper. Strate told me in a dark saloon you've never heard of, that he was the last producer type to handle a KTCA project involving quad machine editing (maybe with Kaiser and Alan Moorman) and probably the first non-techie to work with 3/4 inch editing (with Moorman). Through the plumes of smoke wafting up from his cigar, I could detect expressions of profound affection for his colleagues, analogue & transmitters.

I had the honor of working as an Air Engineer and Air Director for KTCA/KTCI back in 1980 when the studio was at 1640 Como Ave. One of the best times of my life, with great friends such as Scott Constans, Pat Stanger, Jill Wiemer, Charlie Kyser, Elmer, Harry and of course, Tom Deyo their chief engineer at the time who hired me and was kind enough to give me a ride home on a snowy spring day in early April.

What worries is me, is *what we're going to do* when Skynet gains consciousness and the resistance needs to air clandestine signals. everyone will have digital TVs!! John Conner and all of humanity are screwed!!

Hehe. anybody recognized that song?
The final music is an orchestrated version of the old student song "Gaudeamus Igitur".
"Post jucundam juventutem
Post molestam senectutem
Nos habebit humus"
Indeed.

Paul Wellstone at 1:06?
This was mentioned on the New York Times site, where I found this. I like how the station spend the time and effort for this classy end to an era.
