Sad to see. I live in Amherst and wanted to comment. My grandpa grew up on the east side, and I can't imagine it was like this back in the day. The problem is construction keeps expanding out, and farther away from the city instead of making repairs. If Buffalo is to ever recover, I think Erie County needs to step in and make laws prohibiting further outward expansion. It doesn't help when the only time you hear about the East Side is on the news because another person was murdered.

I remember when Buffalo was a nice city to live, however it's become a shit hole ! Full of people who think there owed a free ride,White & Black alike .The tax's are high the the NY state goverment is seriosly currupt they don't try to bring companies back there just interested in ther own pockets. As for the crime If people had jobs to go to and a chance of a futcher things might improve. Look at the failed polices of the past and do the opposite !!!!!

Buffalo's former Polonia, I would say. The comment down a few who said at least the people on the East Side admit there's a serious problem is right.
Black Rock Riverside is dying a slow death because they labor under the delusion that the only problems are kids throwing snowballs and swearing.

payless - it only makes sense because this is america, built on stolen land and tended by stolen people all to benefit the true minority. what else could we expect at this point?

Meanwhile, across town (the burbs) we see construction of brand new housing and shopping plaza's (new communities) instead of fixing up the old communities. Does this make scense to anyone?

great work. this is the desolation that best describes the east side. we let the cities burn while we were engaged chasing phantoms in the middle east. just like the crusades in the middle ages. no one home. and the dead and dying in a foreign land.
this is not poverty or just a lack of funds. this is the decay of civilization. this my friends,
is the end.

Is there a Habitat for Humanity on the east side?
Maybe if Buffalo started enforcing their residency requirements the cops would live there and give a sh*t. When I call 911 in Buffalo the local police and fire depts dont even know how to find my house. Their too busy worrying about their houses in the burbs!

At least the people on the east side admit there is a serious problem. Wish I could say the some for the suburbs or suburbs in nearly all places that they are in self-denial of their own problems such as drug use and domestic violence.
