Plot:
Benjamin Blake (Tyrone Power) fights to reclaim the estate and title, stolen by usurper Sir Arthur Blake (George Sanders) his uncle. Settling out of court proves futile, so Blake is forced to flee England and seek his fortune by diving for pearls. Afterwards, he plans to return home and challenge the imposter in court. While on a remote island in the South Pacific, he falls in love with a beautiful, native girl played by Gene Tierney, his Eve. Gene Tierney performs her famous Polynesian dance.

Enthralled beyond question,

I read somewhere that Gene was cast as the exotic girl a lot because she had "asian" "slanty" eyes. Wth. She got cast because she has BEAUTIFUL eyes and can act a storm, how about that?

It was her deep set, beautiful eyes that cloaked her in mystery. That is why she was chosen for so many exotic roles: Polynesian, Chinese, Eurasian, Egyptian, Arab. Her eyes were not almond shaped. Her acting, beauty and personna have held up so well over time.
