  • great vid, such a shame there's no soundtrack (standard 8 cine?)

  • @l176bx That's right. The last race I filmed without sound then managed to sort out a tape recorder...See all the ones following this.

  • Is that the Jaglia at 2:25?

  • It is. Driver Mick Hill

  • Wow, thanks! I've just spent a very enjoyable time looking at your brilliant videos - thanks for sharing them.

I don't suppose you were at the 1970 F2 Thruxton meeting? My very first motor race - and I got to meet Jochen Rindt. Memories... GRAZIE MILLE!!

  • No, I wish I had been. Jochen was one of my heroes together with Siffert, Peterson, Rodrigues, Stewart, Cevert and on and on. It must have been a thrill to meet him.

  • Was sent here by ten10ths forum, awesome video!

  • Hillman imps in front as always

  • The one and only ROGER WILLIAMSON. I raced the car after Roger went formula 3. Takes me back. Thanks.

  • @2000gpg My brother raced minis in the 60's and would take his engine from Lundie in Angus down to Richard Longman's to be tuned. Over 1,000 mile round trip!

His name is Jim Dryden. He is 76 soon!

  • Brilliant !!

this race is older than me but its pure nostalgia from British racing history,i love watching the stuff blokes my dads age captured.

Also great to see Dave "Run Baby Run" Brodie in the Escort Rs,i have been in a Escort RS with Dave and i can confirm he did scare me and just when i though it was the point of no return he made the car dance and controlled it wonderfully.

Its nice to see Motor racing as simple and in this video so colourfull.

    CheeRS

  • Richard Longman used to tune and build racing mini engines at Downton Engineering, near Salisbury Wilts.

I saw loads of racing at Castle Coombe and Thruxton in the 60s & 70s, saw some great cars, anyone remember Brian Cuttings Anglia with the Martin engine, or Ron Fry, Ferrari 250lm..later Ford Gt 40, and mini...good old days.
