Journalist Andrew Westoll spent months volunteering at Fauna Sanctuary, a sanctuary for chimps retired from biomedical research, and in his book he vividly recounts his time there and the histories of its residents.
The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary is an absorbing, big-hearted book that grapples with questions of just what we owe to the animals who are our nearest genetic relations.
It's nice to see what the sanctuary looks like live in action on this video. And seeing the chimps move around and eat.

Im almost finished the book and many times I have been reduced to tears - God bless all that are involved in the sanctuarys. So sad to find out on Tom's passing - such a soul - more then most humans! Keep up the good work - I will be spreading the word!

Lovely film, thank you! Andrew's book "The Chimps of Fauna Sanctuary" is a wonderful book telling of the chimps' awful lives in the labs and their amazing rescue, recuperation, and resilience.

Well done, Andrew -- and congratulations! Those chimps (and the humans at Fauna) deserve all the wonderful press they can get! I hope to read your book someday. I'm sure it's excellent!
