What kind of engine is in it? It sounds larger and lower revving than the typical 600cc streetbike engine that so many FSAE teams opt for.

It is a Yamaha YZF-R6, which is 600cc but we have supercharged it. She still revs like a bike engine but with the charger the torque comes in lower down the rev range (80% max at 4000rmp) so we don't need to drive at higher rpms

Looks great, but has it competed at Detroit? And if so, how did it rate?

No we have not traveled to the US comps only to the Australian and German comps. The car has been quick but never really reached it's potential.
