"Number Seven: a brief explanation. In this short audio clip, filmed at the Bowery/Whole Foods Market in New York City, November 4,2007 Dr. Yusef Lateef is playing a bamboo flute as requested by a person with a video camera. When he concluded his performance I deliberately said "number Seven" and he immediately responded back with the same words. For those of you who recall the recording "Yusef Lateef Live At Pep's" (1964), those were the words he said after the bamboo flute feature at the end of the Number Seven Suite. Therefore I just had to acknowledge him during that moment." - Leonard King

  • Yusef is such great player...i love him!

  • How cool is that!!!

  • I really appreciate the candidness of this clip. Shows a whole nother side of Yusef a lot of people don't see.

  • Another strange music moment Detroit musicians in NYC. Shout out to DR. King from the O.K.R.A.A. clan in the person of WBjr...now in CT....
