This larger Joule Thief has a bifillar toroid core (90 turns). When resonating it can light neons and produce over 1,000 Volts. At one point the voltage reverses direction.

Man I like what you are doing. I love the music, who is it? I know not everybody loved the music but I thought it was some of the best video accompanyment yet. Very good taste, great video. Keep up the good work. You are on to something.

You ever try illuminating a larger CFL with this thing, like maybe drive a 15 or 20 @ 12 watts? cool vid!

I just watched your video again and recognized that your drawing says the 2N3055 has its Emitter on the case... i think that is wrong, it has its collector on the case. Am i right?
Did you draw it wrong or did you also conected it the wrong way?

you need a smoothing circuit with a few resistors and capacitors like in a probe for an osciliscope. so the high frequency currents dont waste your multimeters

ys I have powered a light via cap, but it doesnt light constantly. I can build up charge in cap and dump it into bulb.
A string of leds does work too, u can light a string of christmas lights
