@MrSillieWe you can crash a car in so much more ways using advanced physics simulation (not real-time physics like games, but one that takes time processing in a huge computer), submitting real cars to so many crash tests in so many different situations rise it's price to millions...

crashing one in a computer is way fucking different from crashing a real one buddy
-
@gyro231995 I agree, and on any given day with the right driver, the 35 grand STI will probably beat the $500,000 upscale toyota Lexus..lol
-
@gitnerd Testing using computer models is becoming more and more common in Civil/structural field because it saves money in the long run. Of course it was hard when it first started but now its easier to test using computer models and make design changes rather than build something and then try to deal with it.

The hard war is trying to sell a car costing close to half a million bucks for a car that is not much faster than a 35 grand STI.
-
The hard way is charging $375,000 dollars for a car that boast 552hp, and thats about it

crashing a lexus using a computer program? makes me so much more confident in our cars...
"the hard way is the only way" - shouldnt this be for a viagra commercial?

@MrSillieWe All the computer simulations do is hint at which design will fare better in an actual test, so that when the time comes to do the actual test, resources aren't wasted on designs that perform poorly. This helps perfect the performance of the product rather than shoot in the dark with it.
