@PhoeniX999R1 - The minimum wage is different in each province and the cost of living is much higher. Where I live in Canada a 1 bedroom apartment is $900. 6 pack of beer $12, cigarettes are $8. One beer at a bar is $5-6. You need at least $2,500 per month or you live pretty poor.

Hi Colin,
Thanks for sharing about your life/lifestyle in China. I very much want to retire in China in about ten years' time. Currently, living and working in Singapore. May I know how much an apartment would cost to buy in Shanghai...not in the city area but somewhere near the city will do. For myself to live only. I'm 45 now and would be 55 in ten years' time. Working hard like you and saving desperately. Take care. Thanks again for sharing.
