Dr. Patrick Dolan tells DSEA local leaders that we are in a special place thanks to DSEA's leadership which built positive relationships with education policymakers, so that when the Duncan administration came in, we were able to collaborate. Other state associations are in "the fight of their lives," with legislatures taking away collective bargaining rights, payroll dues deduction because of the messaging that "bad teachers and their unions" are what is wrong the education. "The threat is real, even in Delaware. So decide what is important to you, what is core, to continue education reform focussed on students (e.g., due process, bargaining rights, etc.). Get rid of anything else in your contract that doesn't really matter."
