yes, it was very real. When I took the video I kept telling my friends that it will be pretty boring and you won't hear or feel it. I was wrong as you can hear (poorly) many seconds after the explosion we were hit with a boom that reaally got your attention considering the distance. As you might see from related closer videos it was pretty intense. some of the closer houses got some cracked windows.

we said yeah! right after the boooom hit us in the chest. It sounds bad in the video but when the dynamite went off we heard nothing. I was videotaping from some 4 miles away and were surprised when our faces got slammed with a shock wave.
