Nolan and trisomy 18 our son

Heres our little boy with trisomy 18 and doing fantastic!
We knew at 22 weeks pregnant that our son had Trisomy 18 confirmed by an amnio..doctors told me the worst and that he probably wont make it to birth..they also told me to terminate very many times and i had no part in that!! i carried him to 42 weeks and had to be induced he was born after about 9 hours of labour..he was perfect and breathing on his own! he is still with us now and we love him soo much hes such a blessing!

Nolan will be turning 18 months on christmas day, he is doing fabulous! developing well, slower than average but he is accomplishing lots in his life, we love him!

What are the trials of Trisomy 18? I can only guess with the gavage some problems with swallowing or breathing. You are so lucky. I like how you celebrate every little milestone. He's a cutie and I love his spiky hair :)

@pooh42682 the trials of trisomy 18 are different in every baby nolan is less severe than many, it can be very severe.He does have problems swallowing but his breathing is great considering his hole in his heart.

@kll510 Trisomy 18 is a chromosomal deffect we are suppose to have 46 chromosomes these are all paired! making that 18 pairs.on his 18th pair he has got an extra whole copy of genetics, this was random.His challenges range he is still like a babby at 18 months old, but is in the mind set of maybe 9 months now.

We...pray for your little son...... he will be fine and fully recovered.......... We've got a little angel and she is just 04 weeks now..... doctors r suspecting that she is also has some symptoms related to Trisomy 18. But not confirmed as yet.... Can not do anything other than wait and see.........

My partner & I are expecting our son in late april 2011, we were told that he has Trisomy 9 Mosanic. Doctors said we should abort, due to quality of life! We said no we as parents will deal with his needs. I for one am proud to have him in our family, my daughter who is 4 can't wait. God bless you all
