Colleen B. Jonsson, Ph.D., Professor of Microbiology & Immunology and Director, Center for Predictive Medicine for Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases at the University of Louisville, presented "Merging Basic and Clinical Research for Emerging Viruses: How Can We Mind the Gap?" at the University of Louisville Department of Medicine Grand Rounds on April 12, 2012.

Dr. Jonsson's talk focused on defining emerging viruses and outbreaks, the challenges associated with translational research of emerging viruses, the hantavirus outbreak in the Americas and approaches in translational research in Paraguay, and the 2009 Pandemic H1N1 Outbreak and approaches in translational research at U of L.
