This required weekly test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) was sent about twelve times between 2am and 4am on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 on the Comcast system serving Dartmouth, MA (New Bedford headend). The reason is officially unknown why this test was repeated so many times. Within the following week, a similar series of reoccurring tests were sent. This appears to also have happened in other markets including Philadelphia, PA and Atlanta, GA, all in the late night/early morning hours. These tests could be occurring because Comcast is testing its EAS equipment in preparation for a national test on Wednesday, November 9th.
