A comparison between the Hawke Endurance riflescope and the Leupold Vari-X II riflescopes. The Hawke Endurance riflescope is a reasonably priced scope with surprisingly nice features, especially when compared to the much more expensive Leupold Vari-X II riflescope. Both scopes are 3-9x40mm variable power.

  • I have a 3-10*44 endurance my shooting partner a 3-9*50 Leupold. And its hard to see quite why mine only cost me £40 quid (reduced) to his £350. The Leupolds very bright very sharp the Hawke is not quite as bright but still gives a very sharp image so no surprise the Leupolds got the edge on glass quality. But the Hawke has the nicer turrets and I love the large zoom ring. What a Hawke can do for very little money is truly quite impressive they comfortably out performance their price tag

  • Thank you for your comments. I've heard some customers say they can't tell the difference in the image and others say a "little" better or a "little" worse... Everyone has to agree the image quality is at least "close".

  • YES it's an unfair comparison... It say's so right in the video! A FAIR comparison would be to show the Leupold vs a Hawke scope of similar price range... Like the Nite-Eye SR or Sidewinder 30 Tactical. But the Leupold would look pretty lame in comparison to those. We decided to compare a basic Leupold to a basic Hawke. Hawkes reputation for optics quality, repeatability, and "holding zero" is very well established. And as for "getting what you paid for"... Why not get MORE FOR YOUR MONEY?

  • $399? You should see what you can get in a Hawke for $399 and less! Try a Sidewinder 30 with computer programmable reticle.

  • Thanks for your nice comments. I've been equally impressed with them. Regarding the ballistic software, we have a youtube of how that works if anybody wants to see.

  • Thank you for the comparison.

  • Looking for folks who have a Hawke 3-9x40mm Endurance Series, I have a super line on them and want some input before I buy one. Looking to set up on a .223 or .308 bolt action rifle.

  • @IdaHowitzer I agree, but value also comes into play. While there may be a few small things that might make a difference to you, in Leupold's case, you are paying a premium for the name, and not getting full value for your money. Don't take me the wrong way, I LOVE Leupold. They make outstanding product, but for something that you are just using for fun, or at the range, or are on a budget, there are other options.

  • I've got to say this is an unfair evaluation. The turrets and focus are small features that vary between Leupold models. The VXII may be more expensive but you get what you pay for. "Features" like that don't mean ANYTHING unless the scope HOLDS zero and has high quality optical components. In the world of riflescopes, you get what you pay for rings true.

  • the leupold efr is far superior. If you have the 399 and can afford it you will not be dissapointed. The glass is top notch, crosshairs precise and the turrent adjustments are on the money. hawkes are alright for the money but there is no comparison. Its like comparing a corvette to a festiva.
