  • Jarrett does a better job than many "pro" classical pianists with Shosty. But those that Richter recorded (most on Philips in a studio recording) are, for my taste, not just a "little" better than other accounts, but VASTLY better in every imaginable respect.

    And, yes, Jarrett's Handel Suites are a masterpiece.

  • This music is like barely contained madness, it's incredibly awesome, Shostakovich has become one of my favourite composers.

  • i agree with bluesyboypete, Jarrett cannot play classical music

  • Do you truly prefer Richter's fugue here to Jarrett's version? To me the Jarrett version is better in every respect (though I much prefer Richter's prelude) On the subject of KJ: I am not keen on his Mozart but his Handel is sublime...
